End immunity for federal agents and employees
The Issue
Randy Weaver bears scars that will never fully heal. When federal agents, dressed in camouflage, descended upon Ruby Ridge in August 1992, they left behind a trail of tragedy and injustice that haunts his family to this day. His 14-year-old son, Samuel Weaver, was shot in the back; his wife, Vicki, was shot in the face while holding their infant daughter. The family's dog, Striker, and family friend, Kevin Harris, were also victims of the violent encounter. These incidents cry out for justice.
Similar devastating stories resonate with families across the United States. The 1993 Waco siege resulted in the deaths of 76 Many people inside the Branch Davidian compound died from smoke inhalation and burns, including innocent children. More recently, in March 2024, Brian Malinowski was shot and killed during a federally sanctioned raid. The pattern is clear: unchecked power wielded by federal employees leads to tragic outcomes. The lack of accountability in these cases is deeply concerning.
Immunity for federal agents and employees allows misconduct to go unpunished and is a glaring injustice within our legal system. Government agents often hide behind this legal shield, even when their actions are biased, malicious, or politically motivated. Without proper checks and balances, the law becomes a tool for oppression, rather than justice.
To restore trust in our institutions, federal agents and employees must be held accountable for their actions, particularly when those actions result in harm or death. We propose that the immunity currently granted to these agents be reevaluated and reformed. Establishing independent oversight committees could ensure that any cases of misconduct or bias are thoroughly investigated and adequately prosecuted.
By signing this petition, you are joining a community that believes in justice, fairness, and accountability for all. We cannot stand idly by while the very individuals sworn to protect us act with impunity. We demand an end to the immunity granted to federal agents and employees to prevent further tragedy. Sign this petition to call for change and demand justice for past and future victims alike.
