I am a person who is deeply connected to nature, I am really shook by the ongoing illegal hunting and global trade of sea turtles. These beautiful creatures are being ruthlessly hunted for their meat, eggs, and  their protective shells. This is not just a blow to biodiversity but also disrupts the delicate balance of our ecosystem.

Sea turtles play a vital role in marine ecosystems by maintaining healthy seagrass beds and coral reefs that provide key habitats for other marine life, help moderate climate change, and generate tourism dollars for local communities. Yet they are under severe threat due to human activities.

According to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), six out of seven species of sea turtles are threatened with extinction due to illegal hunting and trade. If this continues unabated, our children may not know what a sea turtle is by 2045.

This issue is personal because it's about preserving the natural world we all share - a world that gives us so much yet asks so little in return. It's about ensuring that future generations inherit an earth as rich in wildlife as we did.

If humans have rights, why can't animals have similar protections? The right to live freely without fear of being hunted or traded should be universal – regardless if you're human or turtle.
