Who is affected?

These animals often endure neglect, poor health, and cruelty behind closed doors. Meanwhile, families are tricked into buying from unregulated sources and left with sick or traumatized animals. Rescue shelters are overwhelmed, and responsible breeders are undercut by those who ignore the law.

What’s at stake?
If illegal breeding is allowed to continue unchecked, the cycle of cruelty will escalate. More animals will suffer, more will be abandoned, and the illegal trade will thrive. But we can stop this. We propose a new law that requires all breeders to be officially licensed and inspected annually, ensures all animals are spayed or neutered before sale, mandates proper registration and microchipping, and introduces serious jail time for offenders. This system will protect animals, hold breeders accountable, and promote responsible pet ownership.

The UK claims to be a nation of animal lovers — it's time we proved it. Illegal breeding is a hidden crisis, and it’s getting worse. With puppy and kitten sales booming online and enforcement remaining lax, thousands of animals suffer in silence.
