Our community must ensure that every student receives a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment - free from harassment and intimidation. Yet, students at Ottawa High School face distressing and harmful treatment from their Automotive Pathway teacher. We need immediate measures to protect those students. It is unacceptable that an educator, whose duty it is to foster a nurturing environment, instead uses their position to instill fear and discomfort.

It's against the Kansas State Department of Education regulations for any form of harassment in educational settings to be tolerated. As of now, numerous discussions, outcries, and complaints have gone unheard or dismissed. This situation remains unresolved, and students are suffering as a result. For the well-being and mental health of students in the said pathway, action needs to be taken. Every student has a right to a safe and secure educational environment.
