End gender bias in our dress code!

End gender bias in our dress code!
The Issue
I have written this petition to discuss the dress code. I think the dress code is extremely sexist and a lot of it is unnecessary. Obviously it’s to a certain extent. For example, if I wore a clown costume to school the whole class would be laughing and it would just be impossible to learn. I understand some of the dress code because some of the things students would wear would be inappropriate and revealing if we didn’t have it, but is showing our shoulders or wearing a top that's below my armpit really a big deal? My social studies class was learning about the first amendment and the subject of the dress code popped up. Every girl in my class was aggravated by the subject and no one agreed with the dress code. I understand that it “Distracts the boys” but instead of making our girls dress a certain way we should be teaching our boys not to be distracted by the girls' outfits. Revealing or not they choose where they look and the fact that we have to dress a certain way because of distracting them is extremely sexist. If a boy walked in wearing spaghetti straps no one would care, if a boy walked into the building wearing a crop top no one would care. Boys can show their boxers under their shorts but we can’t even show our stomachs?! I have never seen a boy get dress coded, even if they're breaking the dress code no one cares. In elementary school girls would get dress coded, but boys never would. It's the same here at Woodrow Wilson. The first step in changing school is changing the dress code. It's 2025 the sexism has to stop! If we don't change now will we ever?
