Gas Chambers are inhumane and cruel and more expensive than lethal injection - Based on information reported in 2009 data from an animal sheltering organization, the study showed that the cost to use carbon monoxide poisoning is $4.98 per animal. The cost to use EBI, however, is only $2.29 per animal (EBI - Euthanasia by Injection).  Branch County, Cass County and Van Buren County Animal Control still use these barbaric machines.  They are the last 3 counties in Michigan.  Lets make this Change and be rid of these horrible machines forever.

Under the best circumstances it takes several minutes before an animal loses consciousness inside a gas chamber, during which time she experiences this terror. But if the chamber is not calibrated and maintained perfectly, or if the animal is young, old, ill, injured, or highly stressed, it can take much, much longer. In the worst cases, the animal is still conscious while his vital organs begin to shut down. In some cases, the animal actually lives through this nightmare, only to find herself in the box for a second try - Please SIGN & SHARE.. Lets put an END to the use of these machines.

Please contact your County Commissioners and your District Reps and let them know how you feel about these machines and that they should be disabled and destroyed.

SB 354 (Grant's Bill) passed the Senate by a vote of 37 to 0.. now it is awaiting a hearing in the House Committee on Local Government

Please call the office of Rep. Amanda Price at (517) 373-0838 and politely tell her that you, as a Michigan citizen, care very much about the treatment of our state’s shelter pets, and would like her to schedule a hearing for SB 354, “Grant’s Bill” to end the use of gas chambers in Michigan shelters.
Then, if your Representative is other than Rep. Price, please contact him or her to politely ask for a yes vote on SB 354 when it comes to the House floor. You can look up your state Representative at http://house.michigan.gov/mhrpublic/.
