I am Judith Coolidge and I a victim of elder abuse in the form of a fraudulent guardianship scheme that has stripped me of my civil rights and liberties. Orchestrated by a cabal of parasitic attorneys and a corrupt judge in a small county courthouse in Illinois, I was declared fully incapacitated by one fraudulent judge, using false information and fictional tales, while being denied a jury trial and silenced and ignored in every step of my very vocal defense. A guardian was appointed to manage my estate and affairs, leading to the theft of my assets and the destruction of my life and dignity as I knew it.  To the best of my knowledge, the current price tag for attorney's/guardian's fees petitioned in my case are currently well over $300,000. The judge suggested to my attorney in court that he sell my house (the house I was living in) to pay these petitioned fees. 

I am fully lucid and capacitated and have now had to prove myself so through many doctors, yet I was forced into this situation against my will by my three jealous, greedy sons who used an emergency guardianship as retaliation against me for changing my power of attorney to my daughter, the only child who wanted to care of me. With the help of the many attorneys, the judge and the guardianship company involved in my case, they silenced me, railroaded me, stole from me, lied about me, and held me prisoner against my will - all in an effort to profit from my estate. 

Even during my temporary, "limited" guardianship, my financial accounts and credit cards were frozen, tens of thousands of dollars were removed from my checking and retirement accounts, my bills were not paid, my services were cancelled for non-payment, my medical and homeowners insurance were both cancelled, my cell phone was stolen and service cancelled, my mail was forwarded, my house was broken into and my locks were changed twice, my medical records, appointments and test results were blocked from my access, my doctors were told not to speak to me without my guardian, I was ripped from my home against my will and forced into assisted living - then later into a rehab, against my will and against the order of my doctor, 24-hour-totally-unnecessary caregivers were installed in my home as prison guards, and later I was put on house arrest requiring 24-hour notice and authorization to step foot outside my house, my meals were chosen for me, a visitation and social schedule was made up for me, my jury trial was delayed and later cancelled against my will and I was even denied a scoop of ice cream at a table where my friends were all having ice cream for dessert.  Every day of my life, I was attacked and imprisoned in some way by this fraudulent guardianship. 

But this is not just about me; there are countless other innocent prisoners trapped in fraudulent guardianships across the country.  Most of these people are elderly, who should be enjoying the fruits of their lives in their golden years, but who are instead exploited and embezzled by this extremely profitable scam.

According to the National Center for State Courts (NCSC), approximately 1.3 million adults are under guardianship in the U.S., with an estimated $50 billion worth of assets under their control (2017). The system is ripe for abuse as evidenced by numerous reports across many states.

This petition seeks justice not only for myself but also for others who have been similarly victimized. We demand legislative action to prevent such abuses from happening again; we demand restitution for those who have suffered at the hands of these unscrupulous individuals; we demand our rights be restored; we demand our freedom back.
