Petition updateEnd Florida's "Free Kill" Law! My Life Had Value!A Heartbreaking Update

Thank you so much for giving this petition your voice and for sharing to raise awareness about Florida’s inhumane “Free Kill” law.

I paid for an independent autopsy. The autopsy report recently came back. The report states repeatedly that Taylor DID NOT have a subdural hematoma…..

Instead, she had a subgaleal hematoma, which is a collection of blood outside of the skull and between the skull and scalp. This is very uncommon in adults. It is typically found in babies when vacuum suction is used during delivery. It is considered a mild injury. The treatment is compression, followed by surgery if compression does not work.

After receiving the news that there was no subdural hematoma/emergency brain injury, I revisited the radiologist's report from the first head/brain CT conducted upon Taylor’s arrival at the trauma unit at HCA Florida Osceola Hospital. It states, “Excessive motion and streak artifact limit evaluation”.

No further imaging was done to clarify the diagnosis of a subdural hematoma, which is an emergency brain injury that requires immediate treatment. Instead, the medical team took this misdiagnosis and ran with it. Essentially, they focused on, and failed to treat, a brain injury that did not even exist, while Taylor lay in the ICU bed and hemorrhaged internally for hours and hours and hours due to the undiagnosed life-threatening torn internal iliac artery.

The autopsy report notes “global neuronal hypoxia”. In other words, brain damage from lack of blood/oxygen reaching the brain. Massive blood loss is also the reason Taylor suffered left ventricle failure, heart failure, and organ failure. By the time the medical team finally took action and diagnosed the life-threatening torn artery, Taylor had been bleeding internally for over 12 hours. She lost so much blood she passed the point of no return. The irony in this is that she was identified as a "bleeding risk" by 4:00 a.m. and signs of internal bleeding were glaringly present throughout the morning/afternoon.

I will never be able to wrap my mind around this level of incompetence and negligence. Doctors and hospitals should be held accountable when they are this reckless. Period.

Thank you, again, for caring, for giving this petition your voice, and for sharing to help raise awareness. Every voice and every share makes a difference!

P.S. When you have a choice, please be very careful about where you seek medical treatment. Emphasis on “when you have a choice”. HCA Hospitals is a very profitable hospital “corporation”. Their market cap is $76 Billion. Their CEO made $15 million last year. Unfortunately, unlike with other corporations, we do not always have a choice as to where we seek health care. Our health insurance and county ambulance maps, in the case of medical emergencies, dictate where we will receive treatment. Please choose very carefully when you are able!
