It has been almost one year since we won this campaign, and as I look back on that time I am so grateful to all of you for standing with us to help end FGM in the US and around the world. Our fight is continuing, and I am very excited to announce that I am now working to fund and open a center for women in Gambia that will provide support services to victims of FGM, help pay for reparative surgery, and provide counseling and other resources to women in the region. As a native Gambian, this project is very close to my heart, and I am so excited to be moving it forward. I have partnered with GlobalGiving in order to raise money for this project, and am participating in their June Challenge in order to gain a permanent place on their fundraising site.
