The Issue

What's The Issue?

Wisconsin has one of the highest rates of dog testing in the world, but dog testing is not only an issue in Wisconsin, it's worldwide. Dogs spend a lifetime in cages, at a cold laboratory. Improper feeding, no affection, nothing to do, hearing each other call for help for days, weeks, months, years, decades or a whole lifetime.

Dogs are getting poked, prodded, cut open and killed by scientists everyday for our own well being, all because they cannot voice their rights. “Traditional animal testing is expensive, time-consuming, uses a lot of animals and from a scientific perspective the results do not necessarily translate to humans.” - Dr Christopher Austin. According to News Northeastern In 2019 around 58,511 dogs were used in USDA research, and around 16,013 of them most likely experienced pain. We are asking you to help put an end to dog testing starting with Wisconsin, stand up for what's right and stop being a bystander.

Why This Matters

Dogs in laboratories undergo procedures from injections, to heart transplants. Fox 6 Now has made known that In Wisconsin Ridglan Farms, there were crude surgical procedures like cutting out vocal cords to reduce noise, and eye inflammation surgeries without anesthesia, pain meds or a veterinary license.  Which is unprofessional and inhumane to do. Outside of Wisconsin labs, PETA ( People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals)  say that Young beagles had holes drilled into their skulls in New York so a virus could be injected into their brains. Some dogs blinked, and moaned during the surgery which suggests inadequate anesthesia. These dogs were most likely improperly sedated and were in lots of pain from not only the surgery but the virus being injected as well. Not only are these dogs suffering during procedures, they suffer after with long term effects that the experiments leave them with. From the viruses injected and side effects, to severe trauma they may leave with and will stay with them forever.

How To Help?

Small acts, big impact. Donate to organizations that are trying to put a stop to dog testing. ( Dane4Dogs, PETA, Humane world for animals, Animal wellness action, and many more). Inform others about the topic! Tell people how this is affecting our world, and how unknown dog testing is. Post awareness, people will see your post and look more into the issue! Every bit counts.

Want to go a step further? Start by buying cruelty free products, stop supporting dog cruelty! Show others alternative products that do not support dog testing. Little by little does the trick.

How to go above and beyond. Feeling brave? Test your abilities and make your own alternative cruelty free products! You never know until you try it. Don't have time to run your own business? That's ok, join an organization, or report labs that dog test to organizations that can put it to a stop. If you're dedicated enough to put this issue to a stop, look into donating your body to science as an alternative after death, this can save a big number of dogs' lives over time.

Fight against it

My hopes are that in the future we can all come together, donate, fight against, safely protest, and put an end to dog testing. We can put a stop to this if we all work hard enough to fight for dogs rights, they can't do it without us.  Dogs are not called “A man's best friend” for no reason, we should live up to that name, not ignore and dismiss it. Please help put an end to the abuse of dog testing in Wisconsin.  Dogs are meant to be companions, family, and our best friends. NOT test subjects. A little help goes a long way no matter what the act is.
