The Constitution of India guarantees every citizen the right to freedom of religion and belief. We call for the introduction of stricter laws and enforcement against religious hate speech and discrimination. Education and awareness campaigns promoting interfaith understanding and respect could serve as a vital tool in bridging the religious divides that exist today. Coupled with media regulations to prevent the portrayal of Islam in a negative light, we can nurture a coexistence built on respect and acceptance.
