End Cruelty Towards Dogs in UK Police Kennels

The Issue

I am an animal lover, and what I have witnessed regarding the treatment of XL Bullies seized and placed into police kennels in the UK is nothing short of abhorrent. As a member of an XL group on Facebook, I see daily the anguish that owners are going through, but more importantly, the suffering these innocent dogs endure. The number of cruelty cases emerging from these police kennels is staggering.

If a member of the public were treating animals this way, they would be taken to court and have their pets removed from their care. So why is this being allowed within our law enforcement institutions? It's heartbreaking to think about how many dogs are subjected to such harsh conditions right now.

The RSPCA reported that there were 130,700 complaints about animal cruelty in England and Wales alone in 2019 (RSPCA Annual Report). This statistic includes all forms of animal abuse; however, it underscores how pervasive this issue is across our society. We must not allow such practices to continue unchecked within institutions that should uphold justice.

We call upon local authorities and law enforcement agencies to end this cruel practice immediately. We demand better oversight over police-run kennels and stricter regulations ensuring humane treatment for all animals under their care. Let us stand together against dog cruelty – sign this petition today!
