I am writing this petition from a deeply personal place of pain and concern. After seeing leaked videos of distressing acts conducted on animals in the name of Halal slaughter in the UK, I feel compelled to act. These animals go through unbearable pain simply so the meat can be labelled as Halal. This is not civilised; it is harsh and wrong.

It's important to understand that Halal slaughter, when carried out in accordance with Islamic law, should be quick and cause minimum distress to the animal. However, the Secretariat of the Animal Welfare Foundation observes that more than 1 million sheep and goats are slaughtered without being stunned in the UK each year, which has been scientifically proven to cause significant distress and suffering.

In light of such disturbing facts, it's clear that immediate action is a necessity. We cannot stand by and tolerate such inhumane treatment of animals. We are calling upon the UK Government to enact stricter regulations that ensure the humane treatment and slaughter of animals, even in Halal practices.
