The Issue

Living in North Fort Worth/Haslet, Texas, we have witnessed firsthand the rapidly increasing congestion along Avondale Haslet Road, particularly between Willow Springs Road West and Blue Mound Road/FM 156. This corridor runs through predominantly residential neighborhoods with single-lane roads that were never designed to support heavy commercial traffic. Despite this, diesel trucks are increasingly using this route as a pass-through, creating serious and ongoing issues for residents.

This petition is not referring to personal diesel vehicles or local deliveries. Our concern is with large commercial trucks, including semi-trucks and other heavy-duty vehicles commonly restricted under “No Through Trucks” or weight-limit designations, that are using this road as a pass-through route.

With thousands of new homes currently under construction and even more families expected to move into the area, this problem will only continue to worsen. Without action, traffic congestion will increase, safety risks will grow, and the overall quality of life for those who live in this community will be negatively impacted.

The presence of heavy-duty diesel trucks raises significant safety concerns. These vehicles often struggle to navigate the narrow roadways and tight turns, sometimes forcing traffic to stop or even back up so trucks can maneuver onto Avondale Haslet Road. This creates dangerous conditions for drivers, pedestrians, cyclists, and nearby residents. Additionally, the constant use of these roads by commercial trucks accelerates wear and tear, leading to costly and frequent infrastructure repairs that our community should not have to bear.

We are proposing a restriction on through traffic by large commercial trucks on this stretch of Avondale Haslet Road. A practical and reasonable alternative already exists: trucks can utilize FM 156 and US 287 to access major highways such as I-35 and State Highway 114. These routes are better equipped to safely and efficiently handle commercial vehicle traffic.

By implementing this restriction, we can reduce congestion, improve safety, and preserve the integrity of our neighborhood roads. Urgent action is needed to protect residents and prevent further deterioration of our infrastructure.

Together, our voices matter. We are calling on local representatives to take action and implement appropriate commercial truck restrictions on Avondale Haslet Road. Please sign this petition to support a safer, more livable community for everyone who calls this area home.
