Columbia College Chicago, more specifically the schools CTVA department has undergone several stages of restructuring. This has manifested in a variety of ways most obviously the removal of courses once offered such as: Special Effects, Location Sound, Art Direction, Rendering, & Practicum. Columbia College Chicago has historically been known for its Film and Television program; with it consistently being the biggest magnet for the school. However the recent changes to the program, have caused a collective fury amongst students that largely came here for those offerings. For many students Columbia was a dream school. One that worked to support young artists and creatives, with a wide variety of courses. Columbia College Chicago was the ideal school for many students. Working to prepare young creatives with quality education. Positioning these students to be leaders in their field. Although each semester the courses have become less and less with Columbia administration cutting back in key programs. This has forced students to move from being leaders in their fields, to followers. This has left students, some of which, needed those cut courses to graduate feeling lost, hopeless, and angry. These change have left students to spend their time on anger and frustration instead of education. As young creatives career and life plans can be challenging enough. Columbia College Chicago has gone from support, to all-together counteraction. 

The Columbia Student Body while frustrated, has posited a solution: 

- Columbia College Chicago Administration ends their damaging reconstruction of the CTVA Department 

- Columbia College Chicago Administration reinstates courses that have been removed from the program. This includes but is not limited to Special Effects, Location Sound, Art Direction, Rendering, & Practicum.

- Columbia College Chicago Administration create and publish a plan towards more transparent management practices. This includes but is not limited to: making their intentions known amongst students and staff, ensuring that key courses that are set to be removed are made public prior to their removal from the roster. Working to create a more transparent and open community, that listens to their students and staff.
