Child labour is one of the biggest issues in Nigeria. 70% of the nation’s population lives below the poverty line and so the majority of children must work to bring in additional income to the family. The number of child labourers in Nigeria is estimated at a staggering 15 million kids. Their working conditions are hazardous and unethical. Their jobs are limited mostly to unskilled and physical, labor-intensive tasks. There are no labour laws in Nigeria to protect them.

All of the Nigerian children should have a right to education and enjoy their youth. Instead, they are risking their lives, working in terrible working conditions, and earning a very low pay. Many of them are at risk of being trafficked, kidnapped and enslaved. 

The lack of a proper education ensures they will remain unskilled laborers into adulthood, making it nearly impossible to escape the cycle of poverty.

The kids in Nigeria need our help! Child labour is on the rise. They need us to speak up and fight for them. By signing this petition, it shows that we will not accept these these terrible conditions and that the Nigerian kids deserve better!  Stopping child labour creates a better world for children and adults.
