”End Caste-Based reservation system in NEET : Remove Caste Barriers in Medical Admissions”
The Issue
We, the undersigned students, parents, and citizens of India, submit this petition to express deep concern regarding the caste-based reservation system currently used in NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) admissions. We say strictly NO to CASTE BASED MARK SEGREGATION SYSTEM. WE WANT JUSTICE AND EQUALITY NOT ONLY THROUGH WORDS BUT THROUGH ACTIONS.....
1. The Problem With Existing Cut-Off Differences
At present:
Students from SC/ST communities can secure medical seats even with scores below 300.
Students from MBC/BC communities often need 600–650+, even for management quota seats.
This extreme gap leads to:
Loss of opportunities for hardworking students
Severe academic pressure
Mental stress and emotional harm
Unfair inequalities between students of similar backgrounds
2. Not Only SC/ST Students Are Poor — Poverty Exists Across All Castes
One of the biggest misconceptions in our system is that only SC/ST students belong to poor or struggling families.
We want to clearly state:
Who said only SC/ST are poor?
BC and MBC students — the so-called “upper” categories — also come from poor, lower-middle-class, and financially struggling families.
Many of these students:
Study in government schools
Come from single-income households
Work part-time to support their education
Cannot afford coaching or private colleges
Lose their dreams due to impossible cutoffs
Suffer depression, anxiety, or even tragic outcomes because of admission pressure
Poverty is not decided by caste, but by circumstances.
Yet, the current system punishes many meritorious BC/MBC students simply because of their community label.
3. Our Demands
A. Remove caste-based segregation in NEET admissions
We request that admission be based on:
Merit,
Economic need,
Equal opportunity,
not caste categories.
B. Introduce uniform and fair cut-offs for all
A student’s chance at becoming a doctor should depend on:
Performance
Hard work
Talent
not birth-based divisions.
C. Reform management quota rules
Management quota must be:
Transparent
Fair
Accessible to all communities
4. Why Change Is Necessary
India needs:
More doctors
Less inequality
A modern, fair admission system
Reduced student suicide and exam stress
Equal support for all poor students, not selective groups
Ending caste-based separation will promote unity, fairness, and real progress.
5. Our Appeal
We request that the authorities urgently review NEET admission policies and introduce student-friendly reforms that:
Support the poor regardless of caste
Reward merit
Reduce suffering among students
Prevent the loss of young lives and future doctors
6. Conclusion
We sincerely ask National Testing Agency (NTA) and Ministry of Education to take immediate steps to end outdated caste-based seat segregation and build a fair, equal, and transparent NEET admission system that treats every student with dignity.
