Captive Hunting is privately owned businesses that sell the chance to hunt animals on their land. Due to it being an enclosure, no matter the size, the animals have no way to escape. This is a big industry in Texas where they sell the chance to hunt exotic species that are currently listed as threatened, endangered, and even extinct in the wild. 

The Scimitar-Horned Oryx is one of these animals. In the early 2000s, the International Union for Conservation of Nature classified this species as extinct in the wild. Recent global efforts have allowed for reintroduction programs, bringing their estimated total in the wild to 90 animals. However, you can still pay to hunt this oryx in some captive hunting facilities that cover the nation. 

Due to current legal loopholes, any animal captively born can be hunted, even if they are endangered. This petition is to bring awareness to this terrible practice and call for our government to create the needed change to protect these animals.
