End Canadian Counter Tariffs on Hockey Cards

End Canadian Counter Tariffs on Hockey Cards
The Issue
There is nothing that is more a part of our Canadian culture than hockey cards. NHL hockey cards are produced under an exclusive NHLPA and NHL deal with California-based Upper Deck Company, while NHL stickers are produced by New York-based Topps. The Canadian counter-tariffs mean that Canadian distributors face a 25 per cent tariff on hockey cards and stickers when they are imported into Canada. This tariff, combined with our low dollar value, will make hockey cards unaffordable for many Canadian families. It will also put the survival of several hundred Canadian stores that rely on selling hockey and gaming cards and supplies, also facing tariffs, at risk. These tariffs mean that Canadians buying hockey cards will be heavily taxed on part our Canadian heritage and pop culture. If you love hockey, know a kid who loves hockey, or care about the fabric of Canada, please sign this petition. Hockey cards should not be pawns in Donald Trump's trade war.
