I am a resident of Dallas, Texas, and I believe that animals deserve to be treated humanely. It is with this belief that I call on our community to reconsider its support for practices such as calf roping and rodeos. These events may seem like harmless fun or tradition to some, but they often result in unnecessary stress and injury for the animals involved.

According to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), calf roping can cause severe injuries such as fractures, dislocations, ligament tears, bruising or even death. Similarly, rodeos often involve aggressive handling techniques that can lead to physical harm and psychological distress for the animals.

Dallas is a city known for its compassion and progressive values. We should extend these values towards all living beings within our community - including animals used in entertainment events like rodeos. By banning calf roping and other harmful practices at rodeos in Dallas we would be taking a significant step towards ensuring animal welfare.
