As a dog lover and advocate for fair treatment of all animals, I am deeply concerned about the unjust discrimination faced by certain dog breeds. It is time to shift our focus from assessing dogs based on their breed to evaluating them as individuals. This petition aims to put an end to breed-specific legislation and promote responsible ownership by assessing the dog, not the breed.

Personal Story:
I have personally witnessed the devastating consequences of breed discrimination. My beloved Pit Bull mix, Max, was unfairly labeled as dangerous solely because of his appearance. Max was a gentle and loving companion who brought immense joy into my life. However, due to his breed's negative reputation, we faced constant judgment and prejudice from others.

One day while walking in our neighborhood park, Max encountered a small child who approached him unexpectedly. Startled by this sudden interaction, Max nipped at the child's hand out of fear rather than aggression. Although it was a minor incident with no serious harm caused, it led to severe consequences for both Max and me.

Max was immediately deemed dangerous solely because he belonged to a "bully" breed category. Despite his overall friendly nature and lack of previous incidents or aggressive behavior towards humans or other animals, he became subject to harsh restrictions imposed by local authorities.
