OVER 800 SIGNATURES FROM 44 COUNTRIES — AND MEET TRÓIA AND SADO

End Blood Farming PortugalCanada
Jul 8, 2026

In just one week, more than 800 of you from 44 countries have signed. Thank you — every signature makes the silence around these dogs harder to maintain.

An update from the rescues you already know about: Quintinha ABC, who took in 19 of the seized dogs in Palmela, has shared a video of the starving mother and her newborn puppy; Tróia and Sado.

Tróia arrived at Quintinha ABC emaciated and weakened, with a days-old puppy completely dependent on her. After ten years of neglect, she could have given up on people — instead, in their words, "she kept trusting, and kept being a mother." They are now safe, fed, and recovering in the sanctuary. Sado is growing strong and healthy in foster care, nursed by her every day.

And notice what the rescuers named them. Tróia is the peninsula; Sado is the river whose estuary it guards — open Portuguese landscapes, sea light and running water. A mother dog and pupy who had never known anything but confinement now carry the names of open country. That is what rescue means: not just safety, but a horizon.

Watch their story here, follow and support their work and share it — Quintinha ABC says a single share can reach someone who can help:

And your signatures are about to be put to work. This week, we are formally writing to the European Commissioner for Health and Animal Welfare, Olivér Várhelyi — his cabinet is drafting the EU's first-ever dog and cat welfare rules right now, while the hunting lobby argues pack dogs should be left out of them. We will tell him that 800 people from 44 countries disagree: a dog is a dog, and the law must protect them all.

One share doubles a voice. If everyone reading this shares the petition with one person today, we pass 1,600 by next week:

Thank you for lending your voices to the hunting dogs of Portugal!

In unity and with gratitude,
