1,038 signatures in our first 9 days, with no paid promotion. Every one of you got us here by sharing. Thank you with all our heart!

Where your support helps most. The "chip in" Change.org offers before signing is entirely optional — it pays to promote this petition on the platform, and we're grateful, but this petition is growing by word of mouth alone.

Meanwhile, due to the overwhelming number of dogs rescued in the last two months, the 15 associations who took them in are facing financial hardship to provide food, shelter and veterinary care for them all. If you would like to help the dogs directly, the 15 associations are listed at the end of our petition — please follow their social media, where any financial support you choose to give reaches the dogs themselves.

And when you share, please pass this on so new signers know it too.

The case is no longer invisible. What began as a local story in a small Alentejo village is now reaching international animal-protection organisations and the institutions of the European Union. The dogs of Lavre and Palmela — and the wider question of commercial blood farming from captive animals — are being placed before the people with the authority to act on them. This is what your signatures made possible: a case that could not be ignored has become one that is being heard.

There is a long road ahead, but the direction is clear, and it is upward. We will keep you with us at every step.

Please continue to share our petition. And if you share on social media, consider tagging someone who could help this reach further — an investigative journalist, an animal-welfare organisation, or a public figure who speaks up for animals. One share into the right hands can move a case like this faster than a thousand signatures.

We're looking forward to the next thousand — and the thousand after that.

Thank you for speaking for them.
