Dear Friends,

We are officially at 500 signatures and have reached our very first major milestone!

Thank you so much to every single person who has stood up for the hunting dogs of Portugal. Your voices are amplifying a hidden crisis that can no longer be ignored.

We have a heavy, urgent update regarding the reality these dogs are facing right now.

🚨 Emergency Update: 52 More Dogs Rescued, 30 Still Left Behind in Palmela

The scale of this horror is expanding. In Palmela, the GNR successfully removed 52 dogs from the same matilheiro. However, the heavy lifting still depends on the small, independent rescue associations with limited financial resources, space or manpower.

According to a devastating update from Quintinha ABC, the arriving animals are profoundly malnourished, terrified, and heavily marked by trauma. Among those pulled to safety are 11 tiny puppies and a mother with her cub(the total of dogs Quintinha ABC received: 6 from Lavre in May, 19 from Palmela). Please visit Quintinha ABC Facebook page to see this post.

The frontline associations have completely run out of money, space, and physical strength—forcing them to make the heartbreaking decision to temporarily leave 30 dogs behind on the site because there is simply nowhere for them to go. The community's support is now a matter of life or death.

⚠️ Clarification on How This Platform Works:

We noticed that we have over 6,000 views but only 500 signatures, so we want to reiterate and clarify the following points to ensure nothing is holding anyone back from joining us:

  • Signing is 100% free: You do not need to pay anything to support this petition.
  • Platform Prompt: After signing, Change.org will ask you for optional financial support to "chip in" or advertise the petition. It is completely your choice and you are not obligated. You can totally skip this page to sign the petition for free.
  • Where that money goes: Any funds given directly to Change.org go toward their platform advertising to boost visibility. Zero per cent of that money goes to our independent campaign, and none of it reaches the rescue associations saving these dogs.
  • If you wish to support the rescue teams directly, please visit the list of the associations  listed at the bottom of our main petition page. You can visit their social media to see their update and information for adoption or for donation. We can't list their page link or donation information here to respect the policy of our petition platform
