The issue

Investigate and Deregister COSRECI

Australians deserve better. Our charity system is built on trust, transparency, and public benefit — but one organisation is exploiting it without giving anything back.

The Church of Scientology Religious Education College Incorporated (COSRECI) is an Australian-registered charity.

Yet all of its activities take place in the United Kingdom — not Australia.

Meanwhile, COSRECI benefits from Australian charity laws, receiving tax exemptions and protections without contributing anything to Australian society.

Public filings show:

COSRECI earned over $26.5 million AUD in 2022

COSRECI holds more than $143 million AUD in debt
Massive sums of money are moved between related Scientology entities across Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

This arrangement raises serious concerns about financial manipulation, tax avoidance, and abuse of Australia’s charity protections.

We are not protesting religious belief — we are demanding financial accountability and the fair use of Australian taxpayer-supported privileges.

We, the undersigned, call for:

A full investigation by the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) into COSRECI’s activities.
A review of COSRECI’s eligibility to remain a registered Australian charity.
Stronger laws to ensure that Australian-registered charities must provide public benefit to Australians.

Australian charity law must protect Australians — not shield international operations from scrutiny.

Sign and share this petition if you believe charity status should mean transparency, accountability, and real public benefit.
