End Animal Testing at Marshall BioResources in North Rose, New York
The Issue
I've been inspired by the heartwarming rescue stories of beagles saved from a lab facility in Wisconsin. But we need to shift our focus to another alarming situation right here in North Rose, New York. Marshall BioResources is home to about 25,000 beagles, and they are subjected to testing daily. It's not just beagles—ferrets, cats, and mini pigs are being used too. They refer to these animals as "colonies," and have taken it as far as trademarking the "Marshall Beagle." This branding of living beings, as though they are products, is both disturbing and inhumane.
Despite their claims of practicing humane animal research, the sheer scale of it speaks otherwise. 25,000 beagles confined to tiny buildings is a troubling image, one that should ignite a call to action. I am convinced, as I'm sure many of you are, that there needs to be a change in our laws to outlaw such testing. Humane practices should not mean suffering for these animals, and the legal system must reflect this ideal.
We're starting to gain some traction on this issue, with Congressman Nick Langworthy from New York's 23rd Congressional District beginning to take notice. However, we need broader support to truly make a difference. It's unbelievable that such testing is still legal today, and even one person taking action can move mountains when enough voices are heard.
Join me in this fight to end animal testing at Marshall in North Rose, New York. Our voices matter, and together, we can push for laws that protect all animals from being treated as mere lab tools. Please sign this petition and help end this inhumane practice once and for all.
