End animal suffering ban the use of fireworks by non-professionals
Why this petition matters
We love fireworks, they are fun. However, they should be restricted to organised, professional licensed displays. The retail sale of fireworks should be banned. They are dangerous explosives which can cause harm to wildlife, humans and pets. They are a fire risk and cause stress and anxiety to people suffering from PTSD and to people and animals sensitive to sound. We call upon our Texas State Governor and the people of the US to support a campaign to ban the retail sale of fireworks and to restrict displays and use to licensed and prearranged events.
July 4th of 2022 Fort Worth Texas noted over 200 fires and several cities notied over 100 nearby despite bans and making the use of Fireworks illegal.
There are better ways to celebrate our veterans then scaring them half to death and damaging our ecosystem as well as our farmers in particular in Texas we have many farms and so on that have already caught fire this year due to small Sparks which is one of the reasons it was made illegal and various parts of the state in 2022 for the duration of July 4th however people did not follow the burn ban or the ban on fireworks and continued to fire despite knowing the dangers police officers in some areas were not able to keep up fire departments in some areas were not able to keep up with the amount of potential fires. The damage the fires causes particularly to people that run Farms has long-term effects. It burns the hay Fields it burns the crops and when you burn the hay fields and the crops the livestock cannot eat and food cannot go to market if the livestock cannot eat they cannot make it to Market weight easily and therefore the cost increases. Also the fireworks tend to cause extreme stress and many animals that are not used to it.
there are only so many things you can do for livestock to try and prevent the stress from causing issues.
Goats cannot be put under for non-emergencies as they are highly susceptible to Anesthesia. They can in fact die from it .
Rabbits are extremely prone to death by stress and many become very stressed during these events and can develop pasteurella they can Ram themselves into objects trying to escape and injure themselves or can pass away from a heart attack because they are unable to escape the noise. It is not uncommon for does to kill their litters in high stress environments. Horses can be locked up installs however they can still beat themselves trying to escape and seriously injure themselves in the attempt. Cattle are known to get bad scours and drop weight when terrified by fireworks. And some of the fires earlier this year in Texas prior to the fireworks many people lost their cattle to the fires inhalation and being engulfed in the flames unable to escape.
Playing music and putting your animal in confinement Somewhere Only does so much when they can still hear it over the music or see Fire in the Sky.
Sadly it's not just the use of fireworks on July 4th that are the issue in some parts of Texas and the rest of the US people will fire fireworks routinely regardless of burn bans. It's not just domestic animals that are risk either as it can cause Terror and local wildlife and also lead to stress death it is also the case that the garbage left over from fireworks falling from the sky after explosion can be eaten and cause health concerns in local wildlife as well as domestic animals such as cattle, goats and horses in a pasture.
I believe this activity should be restricted to professionals and that everyone should have access to it as people lose their homes and livelihoods in the aftermath and there is a very little legally that people can do to the parties at fault if they can't pinpoint the exact direction of the missile that did it.
I would like to limit this to licensed pyrotechnics and see that a fine is placed on those that use it or sell it to non-licensed individuals.
I would also like residents to be able to hold their City at fault for not properly enforcing burn b a n s and this resulting in damage to animals and property.
