Yesterday was the last pony sale of the season - with there having been 3 Dartmoor Hill Pony sales in total this year (2 at Chagford, 1 at Okehampton).
This last sale was at Chagford and 194 were ponies listed in the online catalogue - with about 28 of those actually being Bodmin/Cornish ponies.
Interestingly the staff seemed less stressed and it seemed calmer and quieter than previous years - this sale was not run in conjunction with the usual organisation but who knows whether it was this that had an impact or not! There were pens with haynets as you can see in the photos. Two pens were very crowded.
If you add up all the ponies entered for the 3 sales in the online catalogues - it comes to a total of 787 entries with about 46 of those being Bodmin/Cornish entries.
I believe this is the most ponies ever out through at the autumn sales in the time that we've monitored them...
Please remember that donations on this page do not come to ourselves! We are a very small not-for-profit organisation and sadly the land we are on is being sold so we need to find new premises to rent!
We have an upcoming fundraising event in support of many Devon based animal rescues to please do support your local rescues this Christmas!
