As someone who has witnessed the devastating effects of animal cruelty in circus environments, I can no longer stand by and watch this happen. People are being harmed by distressed animals who have been subjected to unbearable conditions. Neither human nor animal is safe in a circus that uses animals. These creatures are not meant to perform tricks they're being trained with abuse to do.

According to the Humane Society, many circuses use violent training methods, including beatings with metal bars and electric shocks, to force these innocent beings into submission (Humane Society). This is not only cruel but also increases the risk of aggressive behavior from these traumatized animals.

Furthermore, a study published in Science Direct found that captive elephants used for entertainment purposes show significantly higher rates of stereotypic behavior—a sign of chronic stress—compared to their counterparts living freely (Science Direct).

This situation is untenable. We must put an end to this cycle of cruelty and violence for both humans' safety and animal welfare's sake. It's time we demand legislation prohibiting the use of animals for entertainment purposes in circuses.
