You know how it goes. You pick a holiday destination based partly on glitzy photos and videos: brilliant sun, dazzling beaches, beautiful people. All in One, Saranda’s newest promotional campaign designed to attract tourists, does all that.
And now for the dirty truth. The city likely spent tens of thousands of euros to promote itself as a piece of paradise. Meanwhile, the mayor and municipality seem to have no money for — and no interest in — dogs being poisoned on the streets.
- Since March 6, seven dogs have been poisoned, two dead ones heartlessly tossed by Bashkia onto a trash heap on the outskirts of the city.
- Most recently, on March 16, an Albanian citizen found two poisoned dogs, sped with them on his motorbike to a local veterinarian, paid for their treatment, and took them to his home for recovery.
How many poisoned and dead dogs will it take for Saranda’s mayor to find the criminals responsible for these vile acts?
The clock is ticking. The world is watching. And there are many holiday destinations other than Saranda where dogs go about their daily lives without fear of being poisoned.
