The Issue
Flock cameras and other ALPR systems are an imminent threat to, and violation of Americans' 4th Amendment rights. This petition is simple. No half-measures. No compromises. What we demand is the absolute eradication of ALPR surveillance systems in the US. Nothing less than the complete and total erasure of this unconstitutional surveillance technology from American society will be accepted. Many of our constitutional rights have been compromised under the guise of safety, convenience, fear, and profit. One of the most Orwellian trends today is the pervasive use of mass license plate reader surveillance across our country. This technology is not merely an innocuous tool for law enforcement, but has become a significant threat to the Fourth Amendment, and by proxy threatens many other constitutional rights. By scanning and recording our movements on a massive scale, these systems put all of us under constant surveillance, eroding the fundamental privacy rights and freedoms our Constitution guarantees. This rampant data collection poses serious privacy risks, creating detailed maps of individuals' daily lives, habits, and associations, without their consent. It's time to act and tear down this authoritarian surveillance state. We need strong, clear legislation to rip this bloom of authoritarianism out, root and stem. The proposed legislation should include complete bans for use of this technology by private companies like Lowe's and Home Depot, and by government at all levels whether it be city, state, or federal. A body of legislation to combat the rise of an authoritarian surveillance state is sorely needed to keep appropriate power in the hands of the American people. By educating our fellow citizens about the ramifications of unchecked surveillance, we can awaken those who are unaware of this terrifying future. This requires a concerted effort from community members, privacy advocates, and lawmakers. Together, we can advocate for legislation that provides robust protection against authoritarian surveillance systems and government overreach. We call on the United States Congress and local legislators to take decisive action against mass license plate reader surveillance. We also call on attorneys nationwide to file lawsuits against cities, states, and counties. Protect our 4th Amendment rights and ensure that our nation's laws reflect the fundamental principles of liberty and justice. Join me in this crucial endeavor to safeguard our constitutional rights. Sign this petition to demand legislative action and protect the privacy and freedom of all Americans.
