We are pleased to announce that the first River Almond Improvement Group stakeholder meeting will take place on 28th June.
We are also pleased to announced that Forth Rivers Trust will be undertaking river surveys during the bathing waters season (start of June to mid September). The surveys will count how many people are in or near to the River Almond in the 400m grassy area to Nasymth Bridge in Almondell and Calderwood Country Park. The survey requires for there to be 150 people in or near the River Almond in this section over the course of a day, for it to have a better chance of being successful. If you want a cleaner river, please help the River Almond to become the first designated bathing waters river in Scotland by bearing this is mind. Even dipping your toes in on a warm day! we believe that this is more than fine as any sewage overflows should only occur during and after moderate to heavy rainfalls.
RAAG don't want to participate in a 'talking shop' amongst stakeholders. RAAG want there to be progressive improvements made to improve the water quality of the River Almond and its tributaries. This includes consideration of more natural Blue-Green Infrastructure solutions, in addition to Grey Infrastructure. Let's continue signing and sharing the #StoptheSewageOverflows petition to show that we mean business!
Thanks again for your continued support,
RAAG
