In 2023, therefore, we will also be choosing what kind of person and generation to lead the country into a very challenging future.
This future will be one in which petroleum will cease to be the mainstay of Nigeria’s economy, to be replaced by innovation and human capital.
It will be a future in which the forces against Nigeria’s unity will threaten to overwhelm those in favour of keeping us together.
It is a future in which technology will define whether or not we are competitive in the world.
This future will require the country to invest in its young people like never before, growing their confidence, voice, capabilities, and skills to power our development.
It is a future in which Nigeria’s women will seek and be entitled to secure greater stake and participation in the benefits of Nigerian citizenship.
It is a future in which we can ALL witness a Nigerian Renaissance. A future that projects Nigeria’s pride and dignity in the comity of nations.
In this brave new future, we will need to overcome the forces of violence, build better institutions, and guarantee energy in order to attract investments and build a country at peace with itself and confident in its place in the world.
Only one man has what it takes to put us on this path. For the past seven years, he has been at the heart of the presidency, knowledgeable about the institutions, processes, policies, and politics.
