Encourage Tennyson's City Councilor to Run for Lord Mayor of Brisbane in 2028

The issue

I am a resident of Brisbane, QLD, Australia and this petition is deeply personal to me. I believe that our city needs change and that the current Optional Preferential Voting system is flawed. Our city deserves leadership that understands our unique challenges and opportunities. That's why I'm urging our Tennyson City Councilor Nicole Johnston to run for the position of Lord Mayor in 2028.

Tennyson's City Councilor has shown exemplary dedication and commitment to our community for nearly 20 years demonstrating time and again the ability to lead with integrity, vision, and a deep understanding of local issues. Her potential candidacy could bring about the change we need in Brisbane.

Furthermore, it would provide an opportunity for us as citizens to challenge the Optional Preferential Voting system which has been criticized for its potential to distort electoral outcomes contested by 2 Left Leaning Parties (Labor & Greens) against only one Right Leaning party (The LNP)(source: Australian Electoral Commission). By encouraging diverse candidates like Tennyson's City Councilor into higher office positions, we can promote more representative democracy.

Please join me in urging Tennyson's City Councilor to consider running for Lord Mayor in 2028 - let us vote for change! Sign this petition today.
