As a member of the Charlotte community, I hold a deeply personal connection to Senator Thom Tillis. My grandfather, as the mayor pro tem, worked alongside Thom on the Cornelius Town Commission and always respected him. It disappoints and distresses me to see that Tillis has not held any in-person town halls for a substantial amount of time.

In light of the current political climate, we, as concerned citizens, need proper forum and communication channels to express our doubts and questions. Topics like Russia-Ukraine, safeguarding the existence of Medicaid, and ensuring the voices of our district are effectively represented are of utmost concern and we need our representative's response.

In 2019, approximately 67 million Americans relied on Medicaid for their healthcare needs. In North Carolina alone, over 1.6 million citizens use Medicaid services as cited by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. This community requires assurance that Medicaid, and thereby their healthcare, will not be compromised.

Senator Tillis has been a strong advocate for supporting Ukraine against Russian aggression, rightfully standing up for democracy abroad. However, he has yet to speak out against Donald Trump's troubling rhetoric about Russia, including his recent comments undermining NATO. Charlotte voters deserve a town hall to ask Senator Tillis directly where he stands—not just on defending Ukraine, but on holding Trump accountable for emboldening Putin.

We urgently request Senator Tillis to dedicate his attention and time to a town hall in Charlotte, where concerned citizens can express their queries and apprehensions. It is only through clear communication that we can work together to build a brighter future for our district. We seek your support by signing this petition.
