I've called Phenix City my home for most of my life. I've watched it grow, evolve, and change, but there is a vital component missing in our community engagement: open and honest communication between city officials and citizens. It's disheartening to see our city's strict social media policies preventing meaningful interaction and public discourse. Unlike other cities like Auburn, Bozeman, and Chattanooga, we lack a robust platform where citizens can voice their opinions, report issues, and receive timely responses from city officials. Cities like Auburn have Auburn Fixit, a platform that encourages community involvement and transparency. Engage Bozeman and Engage Chattanooga are similar platforms fueling civic engagement through honest and direct communication. The absence of such a platform in Phenix City has led to a feeling of disconnect between the community and those elected to serve it. By implementing a dedicated social platform, the city could foster transparency, trust, and active community participation. This would enable residents to express concerns, suggest improvements, and collaborate in building a better community. We propose that Phenix City creates an accessible and user-friendly platform tailored to our community's unique needs. This doesn't just improve interaction but also reinforces that our voices matter. In this digital age, staying connected is easier than ever, and it's time Phenix City embraces this change for the betterment of all of us. It's imperative that we make our voices heard and push for this significant change. We need to work together to ensure our community thrives with open communication and shared responsibility. Sign this petition and join us in urging Phenix City to create a platform where every citizen's voice counts!
