The Issue

Wouldn't it be wonderful if classrooms were a place of even greater joy and learning? Imagine walking into our classroom every day and being greeted by the cheerful presence of a class pet. A class pet would be very fun and everyone would enjoy it. Not only does having a class pet provide fun, but it also plays an instrumental role in teaching responsibility, empathy, and care among students.

In classrooms around Pewaukee, students have greatly benefited from the presence of classroom pets. According to a study by Pets in the Classroom, teachers report that pets reduce stress and increase classroom engagement. Students learn to cooperate with one another as they care for and interact with the pet on a daily basis. Additionally, scientific evidence suggests that having pets in classrooms enhances learning experiences and boosts mood, which creates an environment conducive to educational and personal growth.

Financially, maintaining a class pet can be manageable. With contributions from parents, small fundraising events, or even community partnerships, acquiring and caring for a class pet can be a sustainable venture. We propose that Mrs. Gillen could consider small, easy-to-care-for animals like hamsters, guinea pigs, or even a class fish.

These pets require minimal space and can be easily cared for over weekends and holidays with a rotating schedule among students or volunteers.

Let's enhance our classroom experience for students in Pewaukee by bringing excitement and a unique form of learning with a class pet. Join us in encouraging Mrs. Gillen to take this exciting step for the benefit of all students. Please sign this petition to support our cause.
