Our beloved teacher, Mr. Colinco, who is known for his passion and commitment to his work, is being investigated on  following an incident with a student wearing a "Trump" hat. This incident has raised numerous discussions, but let's not forget the profound impact Mr. Colinco has had on us over his 29 years of teaching and his contributions as a girls golf coach are remarkable. This situation, although complex, should be viewed with a fair perspective. It is important to remember that he was provoked by the student, who repeatedly refused his request to remove the hat. Mr. Colinco certainly could have approached the situation better, but a sudden suspension isn't much of a solution. 

Rather than putting a dedicated teacher out on leave, we should encourage open discussions and teach our students about respect, boundaries, and communication. It's crucial to bear in mind that Mr. Colinco's actions were not initiated out of malice, but through a place of pain and passion. This situation isn't about taking sides, but about understanding and trying to rectify a wrong.

We implore the school board to investigate this incident in a comprehensive and fair manner, considering all aspects of the situation, and the decades of service Mr. Colinco has given to our community. It's time to turn this incident into a lesson of understanding rather than punishment.
