Our PSL Hurricane Soccer Club is facing an urgent issue that directly impacts our players, our community, and our ability to foster a love for soccer among our youth. We are the largest sports club in the area and have been in St. Lucie County since 1978. As a proud member of this club, I've witnessed firsthand how field closures and inadequate field space limit the opportunities for our players to practice and play safely. This situation not only affects the athletic development and well-being of our players but also undermines the values of teamwork and discipline that soccer instills in them. 

Currently, the number of fields available to us is insufficient to accommodate our players safely and effectively. With more than 2000 current players relying on these facilities for their soccer practices and games, we find ourselves in a constant struggle to secure adequate field time. The lack of field space means that our players are often forced to share fields, leading to cramped conditions that can increase the risk of injuries and hinder skill development. Additionally, trying to schedule games for both competition and recreation teams is beyond challenging. 

To address this critical issue, we urge city leaders to allocate more resources towards the development of additional soccer fields specifically for use by the PSL Hurricanes FC. This can be achieved by committing to providing exclusive use of the Traditional Regional Park soccer fields to PSL Hurricanes FC. In concession for this accommodation, we are willing to concede use of fields 4 and 6 at McChesney Park, while maintaining our Swan park exclusivity. 

We believe that investing in sports facilities for our youth is investing in our future. Providing our players with adequate field space will not only improve their soccer skills but also contribute to their overall physical health, encourage teamwork, and strengthen community bonds.
