Hi Everyone! We reached over 500 supporters!! Thank you, each and every one of you. We've asked the city council to put us on the agenda for August 11th at 6:00pm, after they return from summer recess, so that our voices may be heard. If we are put on the agenda, I will make another update. Until then, you can e-mail the city council at: council@encinitasca.gov Mayor Blakespeare: cblakespear@encinitasca.gov and your district representative: Kellie Hinze: khinze@encinitasca.gov Tony Kranz: tkranz@encinitasca.gov Joe Mosca: jmosca@encinitasca.gov Joy Lyndes: jlyndes@encinitasca.gov If we are put on the agenda, we recommend bringing a notepad and pen (or your phone) to respond to comments. Any facts or supporting documentation you can gather are helpful. For example, if you are concerned about parking, pictures of impacted parking are helpful. We are also interested in what else you might like to see in the back-portion of the former Whole Foods building. One person from the community suggested a Pike Place-like market, which sounds lovely. I, first and foremost, would love to see a grocery store or a co-op, but I have no limit of second-tier choices: an indoor skatepark, a tumbling gym for littles, an art school, a language school, essentially anything where the community can gather. I am only one voice and would love for everyone to chime in with what they would like to see. My primary concerns are as written in the petition. Frankly, were there another grocery store within 0.5 miles of where the old Whole Foods was in Downtown Encinitas or plans for one, I would probably not feel as passionately about this issue. I realize that may not be the case for everyone, so I encourage you to use your voice to speak to city council about your particular concerns. In Solidarity, Erin
