My child is special needs, and her experience has propelled me to initiate this petition. Suffered from mental, physical and wards-off sexual abuse, she has been one of the 17 cases that unfolded in a daycare, with potential prospects of more unreported incidents. A gut-wrenching video displaying abuse — 4-year-old kids spit on, hit, screamed at and threatened — has gone viral, compelling society to stand up against such injustice.

The incidence of child abuse cases, especially within daycare environments, has been alarmingly escalating within our region. It's high time to pass a law — the "Put Your Head Down" law — that ensures a no-nonsense policy towards any form of abuse inflicted on children. This law will condemn any teachers or caregivers guilty of such heinous acts to 3-10 years of imprisonment, no bond and a recognized second degree felony.

Research indicates that children who suffer from abuse are likely to experience long-term physical and mental health issues (CDC, 2020). Simultaneously, it reduces their ability to thrive and develop healthily and become contributing adults in society (APA, 2020). We cannot afford to sit back and let our children lose their potentials and life quality to the despicable acts of some individuals.
