Enact Legislation for A National Animal Abuser Registry

Enact Legislation for A National Animal Abuser Registry
The Issue
My consciousness towards animal cruelty was stirred by the case of Cody Roberts. Cody was caught on video abusing an innocent animal, yet he received only a mere $250 fine. Sadly, this is not an isolated instance - there are all too many cases of animals being starved or beaten. It is evident that our legal system often lacks the severity and deterrents to stop repeat offenders from further harming innocent creatures.
As a society, we have established registries for sex offenders to protect our children - so why can't similar measures be put in place to protect animals as well? A National Animal Abuser Registry would serve as a powerful tool to prevent individuals who have already hurt animals from getting more pets to abuse.
Reports from the Humane Society indicates that nearly 1 million animals a year are abused or killed because of domestic violence in the United States alone (Humane Society, 2018). This horrifying statistics demonstrate an urgent call for tougher measures against animal abusers.
When are we going to protect the animals? Let's put pressure on our legislators and demand the approval of a National Animal Abuser Registry. This is not just about justice, it's about decency and humanity - values that we all should stand for. Let's band together and speak up for those who cannot defend themselves. Please, sign this petition to advocate for a National Animal Abuser Registry today.
