I have two dogs who develop intense anxiety and display concerning physical symptoms such as shaking when they hear the loud booms of fireworks. Additionally, I provide care and rehabilitate wild hedgehogs until they are released back into their natural habitat. These little creatures are terribly frightened by the noise of fireworks, and I worry for them and all the other wildlife who experience such terror.

The impact of fireworks transcends just our immediate surroundings. Creatures across our towns, cities, and countryside are terrified by the loud blasts. Birds, rabbits, and even pets in homes are distressed. Noise from fireworks is not just a momentary disturbance. It can cause prolonged stress and trauma to our beloved animals, leading to potential harm or even death.

The World Health Organization (WHO) acknowledges excessive noise as a serious health hazard and a cause of stress in humans and animals alike. Unfortunately, our animals can't protest or fight against this noise pollution. We need to be their voice and stand for them.

It is within our means to still enjoy firework displays without causing distress to our non-human companions. Alternatives like silent fireworks and laser shows produce significantly less noise and are just as enjoyable. Some countries and cities around the world have already started implementing noise restrictions on fireworks. We ask our government to follow suit. Protect our animals from terrifying noise, enact laws for noiseless fireworks.
