Enact a Law to Prevent Deception and Evasion in Politics

The Issue

This issue strikes close to home for me. Like many of you, I've become increasingly frustrated with politicians who evade direct answers to pertinent questions. Worse still, these politicians sometimes outright lie with no repercussions. The insincerity and disingenuity harm ordinary citizens, as false information or half-truths can unduly influence decisions and lives. We must hold our politicians and civil servants responsible for honesty and transparency.

We call upon the government to create legislation that deters politicians, MPs, and civil servants from 'spinning', avoiding questions unless it's in the interest of national security, and mainly, lying. It's time that truth became a requirement, not an option.

According to the Edelman Trust Barometer, trust in governments around the world is at an all-time low, with only 53% of citizens believing their government is truthful. Such a situation incites social instability, democratic disconnection, and ultimately a crisis of public faith.

We demand respect for the public's right to complete facts, distinguishing manipulative misdirection from the genuine context. It's vital that this issue is addressed firmly and decisively, setting up a system where the individuals in authority are held accountable.

Please, support this cause by signing the petition to create a culture of honesty and trust within our political system. Your signature could make an immense difference. Let's ensure the truth shines through.
