THANK YOU TO ALL OUR SUPPORTERS.
Your voice is being heard this coming Thursday when the petition will be presented at the London Assembly plenary meeting.
What happens next? Petitions are not debated, which means the prayer will be read and the Assembly should vote it through. Once that's done, it goes to the LLDC (London Legacy Development Corporation) for a response, which will come back to the whole Assembly and to the petitioner. The petition also goes to the Mayor. We will of course keep you updated.
Unfortunately we have not heard anything from Swim England London since their statement on the 5th of May committed to updating members 'shortly'.
If you're a SE member and want to contact the person responsible for region’s operational plan, strategic planning and implementation, club and volunteer development, and funding and sponsorship key stakeholder liaison let us know. We're happy to share the contact details.

Who we did hear from is Dame Meg Hillier who wrote to the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, Lucy Frazer MP, regarding competitive swimming in London. She also shared a report from the Public Accounts Committee she chairs, which concludes that the Government has completely failed to capitalise on the games, leaving them without a real legacy in grassroots sport.
“We have world class facilities in Hackney and East London. We need to ensure the champions of the future can access these more easily. The Olympics promised a grassroots legacy but this has not reached most young people in London” Dame Meg Hillier MP and Chair, Public Accounts Committee
