Petition updateEnable Starlink direct-to-phone internet access in IranCriminalising Starlink Hardware in Iran Shows Why This Matters

Iran is currently experiencing a near-total communications blackout, with internet and phone networks cut to isolate the public from each other and from the outside world.

At the same time, reports show the Iranian regime is escalating its crackdown on satellite internet — including criminalising Starlink use and linking it to “espionage” accusations, with severe punishments and even capital charges in some cases.

That makes this petition more urgent than ever.

When people risk prison — or worse — simply for trying to access the internet, requiring separate satellite hardware becomes a dangerous barrier. That’s why we’re calling for direct-to-phone satellite connectivity, so ordinary mobile phones can maintain a basic lifeline for messaging and emergency communication when regimes impose silence.
