As an Ayurvedic Practitioner in India, I find myself along with my peers, limited by regulations that prevent the use of modern drugs in our practice. Despite being educated and trained in these drugs alongside AYUSH system medicines, we face penalties from local medical authorities if we attempt to use them. It's time for the government and the AYUSH Ministry to acknowledge our education and amend this regulation. An estimated 796,753 AYUSH practitioners exist throughout India according to the Ministry of AYUSH. Integrating modern drugs into their practice could reshape healthcare across the nation, making it more holistic and effective. We ask the government to maintain the integrity and dignity of Ayush Doctors by allowing us to fully utilise our training and better serve our patients. By addressing this issue, we can ensure that the healthcare system of India evolves along with global trends, while retaining its unique traditional therapies.
