Empower Green River: Back A1 Lithium’s Sustainable Future Project
The Issue
Petition in Support of A1 Lithium’s Green River, Utah Project
To Whom It May Concern,
We, the undersigned residents of Green River, Utah and surrounding areas, wish to express our strong support for A1 Lithium's proposed lithium project. This initiative has the potential to bring significant benefits to our community, and we believe it aligns with our community values and long-term goals.
Project Overview: A1 Lithium proposes to build a facility in and near Green River, Utah for the purposes of extracting deep and isolated ground brine (Hyper salty water) that contains lithium. They also propose to develop a state-of-the-art facility to extract lithium from that brine to produce battery grade lithium products to be sold to domestic manufacturers of electric vehicle batteries. These facilities are contained in enclosed buildings and use a DLE technology with a closed loop system. All of which will help the project produce one of the cleanest and greenest sources of lithium in the world. A1 Lithium has purchased approximately 150 acres of land adjacent to I-70, the Green River, and Green River City. This location was formerly the site of a low-grade uranium mill. This land has been cleared and remediated but cannot be used for normal development and A1 Lithium’s project would be an ideal use of otherwise barren and previously disturbed land.
Benefits to Our Community:
- Economic Growth: The project is expected to create 297-500 construction jobs over 2 phases. Ongoing there will be 55 full-time jobs with an average salary of $120,000\yr. Additionally, there will be significant indirect economic benefits and job creation through local businesses and services. Tax and royalty revenue generated by the project will directly benefit the budgets of Green River City, Emery County, and public schools across the state.
- Improved Infrastructure: The project may require upgrades to power, gas, rail, and road infrastructure. The community and both existing and future businesses will benefit from these improvements.
- Enhanced Quality of Life: The new lithium production facility will offer a stable and long-term source for employment. It will also provide educational opportunities through partner programs with local universities and local schools to create career training, internships, and other hands-on experience. Locals will have direct access to personal and professional growth opportunities. This project will contribute to a higher quality of life for all residents.
- Community Investment: A1 Lithium has demonstrated a commitment to supporting local initiatives and investing in our town’s future. A1 Lithium has a culture of giving and being an active member of the community. Some recent examples of this are a donation to the Green River High School for Graduation recognition and celebrations for the class of 2024 and donation for the title sponsorship for Melon Days 2024. All of this has happened before A1 Lithium has gone into production or generated any revenue. There are more plans to do much more once the project is in production.
Addressing Concerns: We understand that there are concerns regarding this project. We care about our local community and the quality of air, water, and land. A1 Lithium is heavily regulated by federal and state agencies to ensure that water sources are used responsibly and protected. In addition to these regulations A1 Lithium is providing a critical product to a market that is highly environmentally sensitive. A1 Lithium has a market driven incentive to be as green and environmentally friendly as possible. Failure to protect the local environment would blacklist A1 Lithium and prevent them from remaining in business. While some worry about the environmental impact, we believe that there is clear and significant regulatory oversight, reporting requirements, public processes and safeguards in place. A1 Lithium has committed to using sustainable practices with sound science and being fully transparent and compliant with all federal, state, and local regulations.
Our Commitment: As supporters of this project, we pledge to work collaboratively with A1 Lithium and local authorities to address any challenges and ensure the successful implementation of the project. We believe that open dialogue and community involvement are key to achieving the best outcomes for everyone.
Conclusion: We cannot rely on the development of critical resources by countries with a terrible environmental track record and are known to be hostile to the USA. The opportunity to develop this environmentally critical resource and benefit our town, region, and country is right in front of us. We strongly encourage the relevant decision-makers to approve required permits for A1 Lithium's project in and near Green River. This initiative represents a significant opportunity for growth and improvement in our community, and we are excited about the positive changes it will bring.
