Dear Parking Services, 

Regarding the attached memo about the parking fee increase, we are writing to express the concern about the recent 10% increase in parking fees. As employees who rely on the parking facilities provided by Carleton University, we find this increase to be unreasonable and unfair. I understand that Carleton University may need to raise revenue to cover costs from time to time. However, as employees, we believe that the burden of this increase should not fall solely on us.

We respectfully request that Carleton University reconsider this decision and reduce the parking fees for employees to their previous levels. Alternatively, Carleton may consider subsidizing the increase or offering alternative parking arrangements that are more affordable for employees. 

We believe that this is an important issue for many employees, and we hope that Carleton University will take these concerns into account and take action to address them.

Change in Parking Permit Rate

To all Carleton Parking Permit Holders,
Please be advised that the 2023 annual increase for a faculty/staff parking permit will be 10 per cent.

Currently, the cost of a parking permit at Carleton is significantly below other institutions

At the same time,
operating and maintenance costs are rising. As an ancillary service, parking is expected to be selffunding and this is not feasible at current rates.
This increase comes into effect on May 1. If you pay for your permit through payroll deduction, the increased rate will appear on the May 12 pay.
