As a community deeply entrenched in the legacy of Ohatchee High School, we represent generations who have passed through its hallways - myself, my siblings, parents, my children, nieces, nephews, and my grandparents. We have all been a part of the Ohatchee family and seen its traditions first-hand. We believe that it's time to bring back an important piece of our tradition - hiring an alumnus to lead our varsity football team.
Our town thrives on close-knit relationships, shared history, and a deep understanding of our culture and values. We have seen a decline in our football program's success and unity in recent years, attributed to hiring head coaches unfamiliar with our community and its historic practices. Bringing in an Ohatchee alumnus means bringing in someone who understands our community, our pride, our traditions, and how things work here.
Research suggests that deeply connected members of a school's community can have a positive impact on team performance.
